I love getting painting inspiration from the current season or holidays! There are many great ideas out there, especially on Pinterest. I like to look up whatever holiday or season I want to do, followed by “acrylic painting ideas.” For example, I just painted an Easter painting, so I searched “easter acrylic painting ideas” and selected different tabs such as “easy” or “cute.” This post will include some of the seasonal paintings I have made, to help give you some inspiration to create your paintings!
Spring
This painting includes an assortment of different spring flowers, including lavenders, a cone flower, daisies, and more! I first painted the background, by adding different shades of blue to my canvas and blending them. Next, I added the grass using 2 different shades of green to give some dimension. Then, I added each flower one at a time, filling in the space until I was happy with it.
Easter
This bunny painting is super cute and simple. I first painted the background, by adding different shades of blue and white and blending top to bottom. I let the blue fully dry, before adding the first layer of white for the bunnies. It took a couple layers of white until I was happy with the coverage. I added gray around some of the edges of the bunnies, to create some shadows and dimension. I purposely created some texture, especially in the tails. After the bunnies where dry, I finished the painting by adding grass.
Fall
This cute fall truck took some patience, but I love how it turned out! I started with the blue sky on the top half of the background, then doing the brown on the bottom half. I traced an outline of the truck and filled it in with the teal color, adding different shades for highlights. I added the window, lights, and bumper, finishing with the black outline. Next, I added the trees, by making individual dots to fill them in. Finally, I added the pumpkins and touched up the black outlines.
You can make this truck for basically any holiday, by just adjusting the background and the license plate!
Halloween
I made this “Spooky Season” painting on a wooden sign for Halloween. The wood texture was very smooth to paint on. I painted the inside of the letters first, then outlined them in black to make them pop. I then did the ghost bodies, followed by their witch hats, ending with the outlines and details on the hats.
These paintings are also on wood. I like to buy my wooden signs and shapes from Walmart and Target. For the painting on the left, I started by painting the background black and allowing it to fully dry before adding the ghosts and pumpkin balloon. For the painting on the right, I started by painting the background orange and letting that dry, before adding my ghosts and ending with the words.
Christmas
This snowman painting was very fun to create and is super cute. First, I created the background by adding red and white to the top half, and different shades of blue to the bottom half. I blended both the reds and blues towards the middle, eventually meeting and blending nicely together. After the background was dry, I then added the bottom snow part, by blending white and blue. Next, I added the snowmen bodies, then adding their scarfs, hat, arms, and faces. I then added the tree, finishing with the star, moon, and snowflakes.
Valentine’s Day
This is a super cute heart painting, perfect for Valentine’s Day! First, I painted the background pink and allowed it to dry fully, before then adding the hearts. I started with the larger white and red hearts, then the smaller hearts. I then added the leaves and the little background designs.
Helpful tip: cut out paper hearts to trace, so they are the same size!
These are just some of the many seasonal and holiday painting ideas out there!
