I’m going into this summer a little more intentional about what pieces I’m splurging on—and more importantly, what I’m not. Not every trend is worth the splurge, and I’ve learned that the pieces I come back to year after year are the ones I didn’t hesitate to invest in. So instead of filling my cart with impulse buys, I’m focusing on a lineup of items that actually elevate my wardrobe and earn their place. These are the pieces that, in my opinion, are worth every dollar!
Linen
Linen is probably the category I’m the most willing to splurge on this summer. It’s one of those fabrics where the quality difference is immediately noticeable—quality linen just feels and looks better, and somehow makes even the simplest outfit look put together! I know I’ll be reaching for linen pieces constantly, whether it’s a matching set or relaxed pants, so this is one area I’m not cheating in. For me, it’s more about having pieces that feel effortless every single time I wear them.
Where I’m looking for linen: Gap, Peppermayo, H&M

Denim Shorts
Denim shorts are a staple, but so hard to find the right pair—which is exactly why I think they’re worth investing in. I’ve found that when the fit is right, you stop searching for a “better pair” every summer. I’m looking for shorts that feel slightly relaxed and that I can style multiple ways without them getting old. This is one of those pieces I’d rather spend a little more on than keep replacing year after year. One of my favorite pairs is from Abercrombie and I just bought another style, so I highly recommend!
Where I’m looking for denim shorts: Abercrombie (duh), Pacsun, Princess Polly

Bikinis
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ bikini?! A well-made bikini not only fits better, but it also holds its shape, color, and structure after multiple wears, which makes a huge difference over time. I’ve been a victim of buying several cheap options on Shein, but now I’d rather have a few that I genuinely feel confident in and can mix and match. When I find a style that works, it becomes a go-to every summer, which makes the higher price point feel completely justified.
Where I’m looking for bikinis: Revenge the Label ($30 quality sets), Kulani Kinis, Honey Swim

Dresses
Mini and long dresses are a new piece I want to wear more for summer because they’re essentially a full outfit in one piece, which makes getting dressed so much easier. This is another category where I’m focusing on quality and versatility—styles I can wear casually during the day but also dress up at night. I know I’ll be reaching for dresses a lot for concerts and dinner dates, so it’s important I have a few that I like.
Where I’m looking for dresses: Princess Polly, Cotton On, Blanco by Nature

Sandals
I need a really good pair of sandals or everyday sneakers that can pull everything together and make even the simplest outfit look cute! I’m focusing on styles that are comfortable enough for all-day wear but still feel chic—because if I can wear them constantly and not get blisters, that’s a win.
Where I’m looking for sandals: Free People, Anthropologie

At the end of the day, I’m focusing less on how much I’m adding to my wardrobe and more on what actually earns a place in it. These are the pieces I know I’ll wear on repeat—the ones that make getting dressed feel easy, not overwhelming. And for me, that’s always worth the investment.
