Have you recently fallen in love with reading and come across something called an Amazon Kindle? Maybe you’re wondering if it’s actually worth buying. If so, you’re in the right place! I am sharing all my honest thoughts and experiences with my Kindle to help you decide if it’s the right fit for you.
What is a Kindle?
The Kindle is a type of e-reader created by Amazon that allows you to purchase, download, and reading digital books, magazines, and more! All in one place. One of its best features is the glare free screen, which is designed to mimic the look of real paper. Makes it comfortable to read even in bright sunlight when you’re sitting around at the pool. It gives you the convenience of having a mini library in your bag on the go.
On top of that, Kindles are known for their long battery life. Weeks not days! Crazy right? Also allows you to adjust the text sizes for those who like big words or small words. For those who have trouble reading specific fonts, it even gives you the option to change that. Let’s just say the customization options are limitless. Amazon has created multiple models to fit different preferences and budgets. Whether you like a basic reading experience, warm light after certain hours, waterproof, or even a stylus to jot some notes down, there’s an option for you.
The books are very easy to access books immediately. You can download a new book in seconds, look up words, translations, and even switch between reads without ever losing your spot. Another great feature is you can highlight words or phrases. If you are the type to love that highlighter in physical books, you don’t have to put it down once that switch to digital has happened. Plus, you can always immediately find what you highlighted in each book with it all being organized in a specific spot. There is even a way to read digital library books, so you can borrow without ever leaving your house.
The only downside to my Kindle is that it can sometimes glitch when turning pages. It usually happens after I haven’t used it for a while, but once I start reading again, it goes away. Honestly, it’s barely noticeable, but it’s still something to keep in mind before buying.
The Kindle makes reading more convenient, customizable, and accessible. Whether your on a plane, lounging around a pool, or even just sitting in the comfort of your own house, the Kindle gives you endless book options at your fingertips.
Kindle Unlimited
Amazon also has an amazing feature that makes the Kindle experience even better, Kindle Unlimited. It’s a subscription service where you pay a monthly fee, less than the price of a single book, for access to thousands of books. From brand new releases to older favorites, there’s a wide variety of genres to choose from, so there’s always something for everyone.
If you’re reading at lease one title a month, I personally think it’s 100% worth it. It takes the pressure off of buying individual books and the cost coming from a broke college kid. This feature also lets you explore new authors and genres without worrying about hating it and having a book that you won’t ever touch again.
Yes, you can download the Kindle app and read on your phone or other smart device, while convenient, but reading on the actual Kindle truly makes the experience better. The screen, the feel, and the lack of distractions make it so much more enjoyable and truly allow you to immerse yourself into the book. Half the time I don’t even know where my phone is because I’m so tuned into the book.
I truly recommend both the Kindle and Kindle Unlimited, especially if you’re trying to get more into reading or want a more convenient and affordable way to keep up with your favorite authors.
What Kind of Kindle Do I Have?
Even though my Kindle is on the older side, I still absolutely love it. And trust, it still works amazingly well. I have the Kindle Paperwhite (11th generation, 2021) in black. I’ve also had a lot of fun customizing it to make it feel more like ME! I use a clear case with a screen protector, and I added a bunch of fun, bookish stickers underneath the case so they show through. It’s such a simple way to personalize your Kindle and make it more fun and unique.
If you have any questions about the Kindle or want to see what mine looks like, reach out to me on Instagram! If you’re not following it, my handle is @_thecozynook_ and go ahead a like a couple of posts 😉 I would also love to hear if this helped you and show me your new Kindle while you’re at it.
