Our Top 5 Healthy Snack Recommendations!
Feeling depleted after a long travel day? That’s probably because you aren’t fueling yourself most effectively. After much travel experience, we can safely say that the snacks you pack matter. Leave behind the Cheez-Its, potato chips, candy bars, and worst of all: airport fast food. Pick up some healthy snacks instead!
Don’t worry! We have compiled our must-have healthy snacks that leave us feeling energized and ready to roll as we step off the plane. These snacks are convenient, compact, and require no cleanup.
Okay…the first one doesn’t really count as a snack but is easily the most important. WATER, WATER, WATER! It’s going to be your best friend. Flying at such high altitudes causes dehydration at a faster rate, which produces the sluggish feeling we’ve experienced. During travel days, there are a lot of moving parts. However, keeping water intake a priority will make the world of a difference when you land.
And now, for the main list!
Healthy Snacks for the Perfect Travel Day
- Nuts – Cashews, Almonds, Trail Mix
Nuts are rich in good fats, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and good for blood sugar. Who doesn’t want a little salty snack? Not only that, they are known to improve mood and stress. We all know someone who could benefit from this snack. Ha!

- Granola/Energy/Protein Bars
There is a bar for every person! Again – the health benefits are endless with these. The best thing about bars is that they usually fill you up for a solid amount of time, unlike most other snacks. Our favorite bars include: Kind Bars, RXBARS, Larabar, and Cliff Bars.
- Dried Fruit
This is the choice for you if you need a quick energy boost and want something sweet. Dried fruit contains natural sugars and is super lightweight. Dried fruits or fruit chips are convenient, easy to pack, and stay fresh throughout your journey, so you can enjoy a healthy snack without worrying about it perishing. We personally love dried bananas and strawberries! Yum!

- Beef Jerky
Very high in protein, low in carbs, and a great way to get some iron in your body. If you are iron deficient, you will feel fatigued quickly – and no one wants to feel this on a travel day.
- Dark Chocolate
Be careful with this one! One or two squares should satisfy your sweet tooth. Any more, and it won’t be considered as “healthy”. It improves cognitive function, specifically targeting memory and focus. Both of which are key when traveling.

We hope some of our favorite healthy snacks become yours!
