Are you looking for the perfect getaway in the midwest? The midwest has so many unique destinations that make for the perfect roadtrip!
Door County, Wisconsin

Wisconsin is oftentimes the go-to roadtrip destination for Midwesterners for good reason. The picturesque landscapes feels out of a dream. You’ll find rolling hills, lakeside shores, cliffs and bluffs, and flat prairies all within one state! Door County, in particular, stood out as one of the most beautiful places I have had the chance of visiting in Wisconsin. Specifically, the cliff jumping at Cave Point County Park is one of the coolest experiences you’ll encounter in the Midwest! Jumping off a cliff into Lake Michigan is a once in a lifetime experience, although quite frigid waters meet you below. The several lighthouses sprinkled alongside the lakeside overlook the crystal clear waters of Lake Michigan, making for the perfect photo-op! There’s plenty of good food, shopping, and sight-seeing to be done in Door County. Overall, if you’re craving a northeastern coastal vacation, Door County is the best possible alternative in the Midwest!
Wisconsin Dells
Everyone in the midwest is well aware of the allure of Wisconsin Dells. “The Waterpark Capital of the World” is known for its massive waterparks and grandiose themed hotels. This roadtrip destination is the perfect high-energy getaway for families with rambunctious young kids! There’s so many more activities that are offered at Wisconsin Dells besides waterparks, such as arcades, amusement parks, great restaurants, shopping, and more!
Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, St. Louis

If you’re looking for a roadtrip into the city life, there are plenty big cities located in the midwest that fulfill that desire for city life. Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, or St. Louis are perfect destinations for a fun weekend getaway. With plenty of activities for people of all ages, you will never experience an ounce of boredom.
South Dakota – Black Hills, Badlands, Mount Rushmore

When I reflect on the times I have been utterly speechless when looking at nature, watching the sun set over the Badlands is always near the top. Stopping at the Badlands on your way to the Black Hills is an almost must! In my opinion, the Badlands give the Grand Canyon a serious run for its money! You will find some of the best views and hikes in the Black Hills. The beautiful dense forests provide a much-needed break from reality. Mount Rushmore is also a bucket-list item for a lot of travelers in the United States. Seeing pictures of Mount Rushmore does not do it justice. Gazing upon the mountain in person is an out-of-body experience, and a true testament to the achievements of artists able to carve faces out of stone! There is plenty of natural beauty and history to be found in this roadtrip destination!
