From Behind the Lens: Lessons I’ve Learned

When I started filming weddings, I didn’t expect the job to change me. But over the years, I’ve come to realize that this journey has taught me more about love and human nature than I ever anticipated. Here are the lessons that have stayed with me long after the vows are said and the final edit is delivered.

1. The Little Moments Are the Big Moments

Big entrances, sparkler exits are fun, but the real stuff happens in between. A quick glance. a deep breath, a quiet hug before the ceremony. These are the moments I find myself replaying when I’m editing, and they’re the ones that couples react to the most. It’s a good reminder; what feels small in the moment often are the things you remember.

2. Adaptability is Key

Things don’t always go to plan. Timelines fall apart, weather shifts, tech glitches. You learn to adjust quickly and without panic. That ability to stay calm and solve problems on the fly has bled into other areas of my life!

3. Time Is a Gift, Not a Guarantee

This job puts you face to face with the passage of time. Sometimes you film moments that turn out to be someone’s last with a loved one. It’s heavy, and it stays with you. Documenting these events has been a powerful reminder that our time with loved ones is fleeting. Capturing these moments isn’t just about preserving memories, it’s also about honoring the time we have with those we love.
