Episode 3; Play Hard, Work Smart

Sadie Hennings and I go way back to sixth grade, and today she’s a double major in Kinesiology and Anthropology at the University of Northern Iowa. Alongside her studies, Sadie has been serving in the Iowa Army National Guard as a 12B Combat Engineer since 2022. When she’s not hitting the books or working, Sadie enjoys competing in Spartan races, playing rugby for UNI, or simply relaxing at home with friends.

In this episode, Sadie and I explore a wide range of topics, from sports and productivity to friendships and personal growth.

During her Fail Forward segment, Sadie reflects on the fact that not every part of life will be fulfilling and highlights the importance of finding activities that nourish your soul, whether it’s work, hobbies, or other passions, to truly enjoy your days.

As Sadie prepares for her upcoming deployment this summer, she’s been leaning into a piece of advice that resonates deeply with her: “The bad days don’t last, but neither do the good days, so enjoy the moment.” This mindset helps her stay present with her loved ones and cherish every moment before being apart from them.

Whether you’re an athlete or someone looking to boost your productivity while staying grounded, this conversation is full of practical insights to help you navigate your own journey with purpose and balance.
