As most of you would guess, Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year as a florist. Everyone is stopping in for their wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, friend, or parent. Valentine’s Day was just a couple days ago so I am going to share some of the things I noticed, as well as some things I would recommend to keep in mind for next year!
Can anyone guess what the most popular flower is for the day of love? If you didn’t already know, the most popular flower for Valentine’s Day is most definitely the rose! Not only are they well known for this holiday, they also symbolize love, loyalty, and beauty, which is why most men want to go with it. Roses were the most sold flower on February 14th at the flower shop I work at. However, there were a number of other flowers we had sold. I absolutely adore the people that come in knowing what the favorite flower is of the person they are shopping for. There are many other flowers that are known for lasting much longer or symbolize something more personal. I will go deeper into this topic in a later post.
A couple tips for next year’s Valentine’s Day:
- Know what their favorite flower or color is – this can mean a lot to them!
- Sometimes a simple arrangement can be better than something over the top! Not everyone wants hundreds of dollars of flowers and a couple flowers with some greens and filler can go a long way!
- Add on a few gifts as well! Most flower shops sell adorable teddy bears, balloons, and chocolates that can go perfect with some flowers!
If there are things you are uncertain about, florists are always there to help you and answer your questions! There are some things I wish people would ask instead of assuming. With that being said, if you have any questions, leave a comment or message me on my socials and I can help you out the best I can!
Love, Alexis
P.S. – I challenge whoever is reading this to go ask your favorite person what their favorite flower is. This will come in handy the next time you go buy them flowers, which hopefully is sooner rather than later.
Hi Alexis! Well, my sweet husband, if he does buy flowers, usually gets the cheap ones at a gas station 😂 . I agree that sometimes simple is better and to leave it to you professionals to put a meaningful arrangement together.
Very interesting and good information Alexis!
Flowers always bring a smile to my face and I agree with you sometimes less is more. I love having a fresh bouquet of flowers in the house.
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and I am going to find out her favorite color and buy according to that. Thanks for the great idea.
I received the moat beautiful flower bouquet from my husband this year. Pink is my favorite color and Im going to ask for a pink arrangement next year. 💗
