As I have worked with flowers the past couple of years, I have noticed that some last a lot longer than others. In this post, I will be going over some of the longest lasting flowers that I have worked with. If you want to learn about a specific flower, comment down below or send me a message!
Alstroemeria:
Alstroemeria is one of the best flowers to buy if you want a longer lasting flower. It starts in a bud form, which people mistake it for dead. It then slowly opens throughout the following days, and even weeks! The longest I have kept alstroemeria alive is around three weeks! Insane!
Carnation:
The carnation is another long lasting flower I have noticed. With the proper care, these can also last days and even weeks! Carnations come in multiple colors and sizes! There are the normal sized carnations and mini carnations. Mini carnations also last a while and have multiple blooms off of one stem.
Lisianthus:
At the flower shop that I work at, lisianthus is a flower we rarely get but when we do, I always grab some. This is a popular flower in the summer time and has lasted so long whenever I get it. Since I haven’t experienced it as long as other flowers I have worked with, I don’t know a good range of how long it lasts but the couple times I have gotten it, it has lasted weeks. A coworker of mine had also been able to keep it alive for a little over a month! If you get a chance, I highly recommend trying lisianthus!
Daisies or Chrysanthemum:
Daisies are a favorite among many people because they come in multiple colors and have many blooms on one stem. There are different types of daisies that you may see around but all in all, they are pretty similar. Daisies are a great flower to get if you want more bang for your buck. A few stems go a long way because of how full they are compared to other flowers. These can also last up to a month with the correct care!
Sunflowers:
These are most popular in the summer and fall but can be enjoyed at any time! These can last up to a couple weeks and are a great flower combined with bright colors!
Lilies:
Lilies are a great choice if you want a low maintenance flower, however, they are very delicate. The sooner they are in water, the better. Additionally, when they start to bloom, take off the parts with pollen because they will stain surfaces.
A lot of this also depends on how well you care for them once they are cut and put into water. Make sure you cut the stems regularly, as well as changing the water. If the stems close up, they won’t drink any water. If you continue to care for them in the correct manner, you will get a great amount of time out of them!
