The lily has always been a popular, elegant flower that people absolutely love! There are many types of lilies that people may not know about and I will be going into them in this post! I will also be sharing some care tips and fun facts regarding the lily!
Before reading, please be aware that lilies are highly poisonous to animals, especially cats. Please keep this in mind when shopping for flowers to prevent any harm coming to your pets.
Care Tips:
- Like the others, be sure you have a clean vase to put them in fresh, cold water with flower food.
- Cut about an inch off the bottom of the stems before you put them in the water to ensure they get a fresh drink.
- Remove any leaves that are on the stems that may be submerged in the water. The leaves may rot and contaminate the water if they are left on.
- Once the lilies open, you will want to take the pollen off the stamens. I recommend doing this before they are too messy. Be sure to do this with a dry object; I usually use a pipe cleaner! If the pollen gets wet, it will stain the flower.
- Lastly, be sure to cut the stems and change the water every couple of days to keep them fresh!
Bonus: If you want to be extra, when you first get lilies arranged in a vase, put them in a cool, dark place so they can hydrate! This isn’t always necessary but it can help!
