Escape from Tarkov has been in beta since its release in 2016 and it seems like its full release is just around the corner. The official release date hasn’t been confirmed, but with the current roadmap many speculate we will see a full release somewhere during 2026. Recently there have been discussions about what to expect with the full release of Escape from Tarkov. Here are few of the things we know we are getting.
Maps
- New Maps and Locations
- Terminal – This is a map likely to be included with the 1.0 update of Escape from Tarkov. Terminal looks like it will take place at a cargo terminal/shipping port, rather than an airport.
- Town and Suburbs – These locations are expected to be added after the 1.0 update. They will likely be introduced as some form of DLC.
Gameplay
- Storyline Quests – There will be new quests introduced that offer more insight into the story of Escape from Tarkov.
- Prestige System – We recently saw the addition of a prestige system in the latest update. The full release of the game will likely build on this system to offer a more complete and attainable experience.
- Map Connectivity – The maps on Escape from Tarkov currently have a transition feature to go directly from one to another. This will likely be tweaked to offer a more seamless transition. They may also try to make more of an incentive to do so.
- RUAF – A new faction to support the BEAR PMC, this will be similar to how USEC’s have rogues.
- On Map Traders – Lightkeeper is an interactable NPC on Lighthouse, and BSG also recently added Prapor as an interactable NPC on Woods. There will likely eventually be an interaction spot for all of the traders in the game throughout the various maps.
- New Mechanics – There are many opportunities for further aspects of realism to be added into Tarkov. BSG has mentioned they would like to add features such as body dragging, lock picking and climbable ladders to the game.
- Player Customization – Tarkov currently has almost no customization options for your character.
- Player-to-Player Trading – An option to trade directly with other players. This would eliminate having to bring friends items in raid.
Structure
- Platform Support – This would make the game available on platforms such as Steam, which would greatly increase the games player base.
- Anti-Cheat Improvements – This is something the game desperately needs. Many of us hope that the full release of the game comes with a complete overhaul of the anti-cheat system.
- Microtransactions – Cosmetic-only purchasable content such as weapon or player skins that would have no impact on the balance of gameplay. This would provide BSG with a more stable stream of income than what they are currently working with. This would also allow for more investment into things like anti-cheat to make the game more fun.
