Lightkeeper in Tarkov, is it Worth it?

Escape form Tarkov has many quests and questlines with various rewards for completing them. One of these rewards is gaining access to the island on Lighthouse where the Lightkeeper is located. There are many benefits that come with unlocking the Lightkeeper in Escape from Tarkov. However, the question is whether or not this effort is worth it for you. To determine this, I will go over the requirements necessary for unlocking lightkeeper as well as all of the benefits unlocking him grants you. First, lets have a look into the requirements.

The Requirements for Unlocking Lightkeeper

Unlocking lightkeeper is no easy task. There are a total of 197 quests in Escape from Tarkov, and unlocking lightkeeper requires you to complete 78 of them. This does not include the introduction tasks required to progress to the main questlines. This process is very time consuming and some of the tasks can be difficult even for experienced players. On top of completing all of these quests you must also have a Fence reputation above 1.0 to unlock the lightkeeper specific questline. Once this questline is unlocked you will go on a mission to make a radio transmitter that allows you to walk out to the lighthouse. This radio transmitter prevents Zryachiy and his guards from killing you.

If you are curious about what quests you need to complete to unlock Lightkeeper, here is a list: Lightkeeper Quests.

What does Lightkeeper Unlock?

Upon unlocking the lightkeeper in Tarkov you will gain access to many new beneficial parts of the game. The first perk to unlocking Lightkeeper is the access to the island the lighthouse is on. The buildings on this island contain a lot of loot as well as areas with increased rare loot spawns. These areas are typically locked behind expensive marked room keys with costs often in the millions for only 10 uses. Free access to these spawns allows you to go as much as you like with no risk. I have found this to be one of the best ways to make money in Escape from Tarkov.

Another very important benefit of unlocking Lightkeeper is the access to Lightkeepers quests. The quests Lightkeeper gives unlock some of the best equipment in the game. Having access to this equipment, such as the recently added SIG MCX Spear, can drastically increase your survival rate. The ability to craft rare items is also unlocked through Lightkeeper. These are items necessary for certain trades that are often only available in certain hard to access areas with low spawn rates. This means the invested time in unlocking Lightkeeper could potentially be earned back. The ability to craft some of these items can save a lot of time by not having to search for them.

Is it Worth it?

To answer whether or not going for Lightkeeper is worth it, I would say it depends on the player. If you are more of a casual player that doesn’t have a lot of time to play or just enjoys Tarkov from time to time, then Lightkeeper may not be worth the time investment. It also depends on if the player enjoys playing Tarkov to progress quests. I personally enjoy having a concrete goal when I am in a raid. This makes going for things like Kappa and Lightkeeper more enjoyable and keeps the game entertaining for me. If a player is like me and enjoys questing, or wants easy access to the rarest loot and high value, low stress raids. Then Lightkeeper is definitely worth going for.
