Bojack Horseman is a Netflix original that aired from 2014-2020. As it finds its footing in the first season the show seems to be a typical raunchy adult cartoon. However is the season finale things take a dark turn and the show appears to be more serious.
As the show progresses it covers many serious topics, from abortion to drug abuse. The show seems to become more serious as it goes on portraying problems and mental health crises. Despite this the show continues with witty one liners and seemingly endless animal puns.
So is Bojack Horseman a drama, a comedy, perhaps a dramedy? It’s difficult to know for certain where to classify this cartoon. However ultimately it’s a personal opinion. In my opinion the show is closer to a drama than anything else. However, the show is the funniest drama that I’ve had the pleasure of watching
So if you’re not into dramas and prefer comedy Bojack may be the bridge that you need. The same could be true for the opposite. Regardless, Bojack Horseman has great messages and is an excellent show that I’d highly recommend.
