It’s not often that a show that originally aired in the 1990’s is still receiving new episodes. However it’s even less common for that show to survive two cancellations! Futurama began as a show owned by Fox but was cancelled. After this cancellation several movies were created with the same cast. It was then picked up by Comedy Central before it was cancelled. The show was revived on Hulu in 2023, and has ended the latest series with viewers wanting more.
The Hulu revival of Futurama features the same original cast and continues with the same premise. Not only has Futurama had multiple successful runs, but the new series has been green-lit for two more seasons at minimum. It appears that Futurama won’t be cancelled again soon. Perhaps when it’s cancelled by Hulu a few years down the line the show will be picked back up again. On its current track, perhaps the show will have a new iteration until time catches up to its setting.
