In a world full of fast-paced consumerism, it can be easy to look at your “old furniture” and believe that you need something new. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t get me wrong\u2013 outdated furniture can easily look out of place in your home. Whether it’s an odd design on a dresser, or a table the clashes with the rest of your kitchen, it’s pretty obvious that vintage furniture is out of place in an environment that doesn’t suit its’ style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However before you bring your old furniture to the landfill, consider alternative options that can benefit you, others, and the environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Donate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you’re looking for a quick way to get rid of your old furniture, consider donating the piece to an organization such as Habitat For Humanity<\/a> or Goodwill<\/a>. These are great options if you want to quickly get a piece off your hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don’t want to bring your furniture to another location, you can also list your furniture piece on Marketplace for free. This is another great way to get a piece off of your hands quickly without having to load it to another location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Refurbish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to old furniture, theres a good chance that it is made out of solid material compared to newer furniture. Lots of old furniture is made out of solid wood, which people spend thousands of dollars for today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanding your piece down and giving it a fresh coat of paint, stain, or just a clear coat can dramatically change the look of your piece and make it look brand new. If you don’t have a sander and don’t wan’t to spend money on paint, you can also switch out the hardware which can instantly modernize a vintage piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A great way to visualize what your furniture piece may look like updated is by using an AI platform such as ChatGPT. Simply upload a photo of your furniture piece, give it instructions if you have something specific you’d like to do to the piece, and see if you like the result of the response. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Style Around the Piece<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you feel like your furniture piece is out of place but don’t want to donate or refurbish the piece, consider looking at the surrounding environment and making design changes around the piece.
