In this post, I will be detailing the full furniture flip process of my latest piece, while sharing tips and tricks that can help you on your next flip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Before <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This dresser had great structure before I began the flipping process. All the drawers functioned well, and it gave me a great starting point for the flip. Patch Damaged Areas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before I begin sanding the piece, I use Wood bondo on any large damaged areas. I also put bondo on the drawers where the veneer peeled off to give it a smoother surface. For small scratches or dents, I use normal wood filler. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before I applied the bondo and wood filler to the piece, I sanded the surrounding areas so that the filler has a good surface to stick to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/buzz.uni.edu\/repeatfurniture\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Untitled-design-3-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-382\" style=\"width:441px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/buzz.uni.edu\/repeatfurniture\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Untitled-design-3-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/buzz.uni.edu\/repeatfurniture\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Untitled-design-3-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/buzz.uni.edu\/repeatfurniture\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Untitled-design-3-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/buzz.uni.edu\/repeatfurniture\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Untitled-design-3-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/buzz.uni.edu\/repeatfurniture\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Untitled-design-3.png 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Apply Paint Stripper<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wanted to leave the top wooden, so in order to make the sanding easier, I used paint stripper on the top of the piece. I also applied the paint stripper to the highly detailed areas of the dresser. I covered the area with plastic wrap, left it for around 15 minutes, then scraped it off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I then used acetone to dissolve any remaining paint stripper. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Sand the Piece<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next it was time for the most time consuming and un-fun part of the flipping process, sanding. I started with 120 grit, then sanded with 220 grit after that. Unfortunately this wasn&#8217;t a solid wood piece, however I was able to sand the top piece of veneer without burning through it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After I sanded the whole piece down, I went back with more bondo and wood filler and filled any areas that I missed to ensure a smooth surface. After sanding the second pass of filler, the dresser was ready to be primed and painted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Prime, Paint and Seal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is by far the most satisfying and enjoyable part of furniture flipping in my opinion. This is where the piece started to come together and my vision came alive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did two layers of priming, sanding between each layer to remove any paint lines and get as smooth of a base as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I then did 2 layers of paint in the color &#8220;Accessible Beige&#8221; by Sherwin Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After painting, I created a paint wash to go on the top of the dresser. I did 2 layers on the entire dresser, and an extra layer on the top to make sure it is properly protected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Spray Paint the Hardware and Assemble<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, I took the original handles and thoroughly cleaned them. After they dried, I used an antique bronze spray paint to freshen up the color. I also added a layer of polyurethane sealer on the handles to protect the paint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, it was time to assemble the hardware and install it to the drawers.
