Dancing With The Stars Season 33 Night One

Dancing With The Stars Season 33 Night One

Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars just kicked off on September 17th and here are my thoughts. Down below is the ranking of the first night going from my least favorite dances to my favorite dances. I include the score they received from the judges, along with the videos of their dances. I added some predictions on who I think will make it far and who will not as well. If you disagree with my list and think I should switch some people around, please leave a comment. Now let’s begin with my least favorite dance of the night:

Eric Roberts- 15/30

Those stairs did him dirty. At first I could not tell if he was on or off beat. I quickly realized that he was way off, but he eventually found his grove half-way through the dance. Although he brought the energy, it was not enough to save his performance. I do have to say that it is impressive to dance around like that at age 68. However, the judges were too nice to him and should have given him a lower score. I would have given him a 4/10 yet they all gave him 5/10’s.

Reginald VelJohnson – 16/30

He has the personality and stage presence needed to have a good performance. However, the choreography was just not it. He barely moved his feet at all. Just stood in one spot for over half of the dance, and when he did move his feet it was just little shuffles. Yet, it was still more entertaining then Eric’s dance. The judges were way too nice to him as well. He definitely deserved 4’s yet received two 5s and a 6.

Danny Amendola – 20/30

Although it was one of the highest scores of the night score wise, it was definitely one of my least favorites. The choreography was slow, and Danny was extremely stiff. He did not out dance Joey even though his score says so. It is just a hard dance to watch in my opinion. There is no energy at all and awkward at times. His average score was 6.6 but I would have given him a 4. There were other dances that should have scored higher than him.

Ilona Maher – 18/30

She came and did her thing. I had no idea what to expect except that it was going to be a fun dance. And it was, however, it could definitely still improve. The judges gave her a little grace when it came to the scores, but I do think she has a lot of potential. I hope to see her go far in this competition and improve her dancing skills. One of the reasons I will be watching next week. I would have given her a 5/10 instead of the 6’s that the judges gave out. It was a good first week for her.

Anna Delvey – 18/30

Anne are you okay? It seemed like she felt out of place and uncomfortable. In her interviews it seems like she does not want to be there either. Some people love it, and some people hate it. I have yet to make up my mind. That being she has one of the biggest potentials of the season. She has the capability to become a beautiful dancer and could make it far into the competition. Definitely a way to close the show. I agreed with the judges on this score.

Jen Tran- 19/30

Jen’s dance was so cute. I can tell that when she gets more comfortable and practice, she will do great things this season. Unfortunately, I do believe that she was outdanced by Joey; However, still way better than anything Devin could ever do. I agree with the judges scoring on this dance and will be rooting for Jen this season.

Tori Spelling – 17/30

I am surprised to hear that people did not like this dance. I thought it started in such a fun way. Then she had great choreography and brought the energy. Especially for someone that is in their 50’s. Her dance was 100% more fun to watch than Danny’s in my opinion. She deserved a higher score. I would have given her at least a 6 if not a 7.

Brookes Nader – 18/30

I thought this dance was good for night one. She has the ability to have good dances. My fear for her is that she will get lost in the crowd of the amazing cast. I hope to see something that stands out/catches my attention next week. I agreed with the judges scoring, she deserved all 6s.

Dwight Howard – 22/30

Wow, I was not expecting this dance on night one. Julian needs to calm herself down in the interviews though because that was borderline uncomfortable to watch. He is going to be a fan favorite for sure because he brought the energy and performed spectacularly. Dwight is one of those people that I am excited to watch next week, so hopefully he brings the same energy. I wonder if he will be able to top this dance. He definitely deserved the score that he received.

Stephan Nedoroscik – 21/30

Finally, Rylee has a partner that will be able to keep up with her and show off her talents. For the first week I was extremely impressed with the caliber of dance that they performed. Stephen got excited at the start of the dance which caused him to increase the tempo a little bit, but it got back on track. I am excited to see how far they get, and I will be rooting for them. The judges were correct with the scores on this dance, and I could see these two winning the season.

Joey Graziadei – 21/30

Joey surprised me. After watching his season of the bachelor, he did not strike me as the guy that could dance. I was wrong though. What a way to kick off an amazing season and the show in general. Hopefully he makes it far into the competition so we can see more Kelsey in the audience. I would have given him a 7 too.

Phaedra – 19/30

Phaedra will forever be one of my favorite Housewives. Her dance was incredible for night one, and definitely deserved a higher score. At least all 7s. She is the jack of all traits truly; I was not expecting her to be such a good dancer. I will be rooting her on faithfully this season. Also, shoutout to Tamera in the audience My favorite Housewives from the OC (when will she go on the show) !?!?!?

Chandler Kinney – 23/30

Last and most certainly not least: Chandler. She clearly has the most experience with dance/performance and it showed tonight. She obviously deserved the highest score of the night, but I am still surprised that they gave out an 8 so early in the season. It will be interesting to see if she has what it takes to stay leagues ahead of the others or if they will catch up to her.

Come back next week to see my thoughts on episode two. Also, Follow me on X and TikTok!!! And please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!!!
