A Christian Perspective on Time Management in College
Pick it Up:
“If the devil can’t make you sin, he’ll make you busy.” -Corrie Ten Boom
In college, a lot of times students are constantly busy and overwhelmed. Trust me, I get it. A few days of my week, I leave my apartment at 8:30 AM and don’t get back until 11 PM. Having classes, homework, a part-time job, leading a small group, having a social life, working out, etc. causes a crazy amount of busyness. Don’t get me wrong, all of the things I do in a day are mostly good but it can be hard to keep it all under control. And trying to make God a top priority while having SO many priorities seems really hard. Is this sounding familiar to your own thoughts?
Don’t worry, you’re not alone! With the past few years of my own experience, I’ve learned ways to better manage my time and to keep God number one. My two best pieces of advice are to use your time wisely and to prioritize the right things. Listed below are a few things you can implement into your life that can help you slow down and manage your time better. You don’t want the devil to have control of your life so you must allow God to be the forefront of your mind.
& Preach:
- Use your time wisely
- Make a list of your top priorities (Make sure your calendar reflects these priorities.)
- Have a calendar (WHAT? Who would’ve thought that this would be key!)
- Set up a screen time (yeah, deny yourself. You can do it.)
- Have a Sabbath weekly (This is actually one of the 10 commandments but we tend to ignore this one.)
- Prioritize the right things
- Wake up early in the morning to spend time with God
- Pray on your way to classes/work
- Campus ministry, small group, and church need to be non-negotiable
