It is important for photographers to develop their own unique style, it sets them apart and makes it easier for them to be recognized. You want to be different than other photographers because your customers will want to choose you for your specific style. Your unique style is your own vision, emotion, and story. It is key to be consistent within your portfolio so you can attract a specific audience with that certain aesthetic.
Inspiration
Find your interest, your passion and discover a story you could showcase. Analyze other photographers and their editing style. What theme, what color scheme would you like to showcase, and really what is your main subject you like to capture.

Experiment
Go out and experiment with different shooting styles, different locations, different subjects. Maybe try landscape, portrait, macro, street, action, find what you enjoy capturing. Once you find your favorite location, subject and style you can play around with your editing style. Don’t be afraid to go extreme, or light with your edits find what your eye likes and what you what to produce. You can always revert your edits or duplicate your images to make as many possible edits to the same photo, you then can compare each style. Your editing also does not just stop with lighting and color, maybe you want to advance into photoshop, add some other items into your images. Photoshop also does not have to be drastic it could be as simple as adding some clouds to fill the empty space in the sky.

Emotion
There are numerous types of emotions you could convey with photography and a variety of ways you could go about expressing each emotion.
Joy: this may have bright vibrant colors, with uplifting scenery
Sadness: this will have somber tones, and possibly a solitary subject
Love: may include close up shots with intimate moments, and in a romantic setting with moody lighting.
Portfolio
I would suggest everyone to keep their photos from the start. Put them away in a portfolio or even a folder on your computer. It will be beneficial to look back at your old photos and where you came from and compare to your current work.
Keep in mind that photography is more than just capturing images; it’s about the stories you convey and the emotions you inspire. So pick up your camera, venture out, and let your creativity take center stage!
