But empowering your team goes beyond handing over responsibility. Empowerment requires trust, support, and even criticism to help your team reach their full potential. But how do you empower your team.

Trust and Automoy

As a leader, you should trust your team and be able to give them the freedom to make decisions in their work. Micromanagement reduces creativity and motivation, and overall reduces trust. Employees who feel trusted are more likely to better fit into their roles and are more likely to solve problems independently.

Provide Growth Opportunities

Working with a team, you need to provide opportunities to grow and improve. Encourage your team to develop their skills through training, mentorship, and challenging projects.

Recognize and Reward

As a leader, you should often acknowledge hard work and contributions. A simple thank you or public recognition can fo a long way, whether through shout outs in meetings, employee rewards, or having performance-based rewards.

Encourage Communication

Employees who feel comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions, and expressing concerns without fear of judgment or backlash are empowered employees. Implementing an open-door policy or regular check-ins starts the culture of collaboration.

While empowerment includes achievements and trust, it also involves guidance and involvement. Constructive feedback and criticism play a key role in the process that lots of leaders struggle with. However, constructive criticism isn’t meant to be a source of discouragement, it is a tool for growth. But how you do deliver contrstuctive criticism?

Solution Oriented

When wanting something changes, fixed, or updated its best not to provide vague feedback like, “this needs to be better,” you should be provided examples and solutions. For instance, “I noticed that throughput times are down for this ride. If you pregroup guests, you may be able to raise those times,” following with reassruase about the new task.

“Praise-Suggestion-Praise” Method

Using this method to provide constructive feedback reinforces the idea that they are still good at what they do. Start the conversation on a positive note, address the issue, and end the conversation with encouragement.

Deliver Feedback Respectfully

Feedback give employees the opportunity to grow, so it is important to that feedback is given correctly. No one likes to be called out infront of their peers of co-workers. Constructive criticism should be given in a one-on-one setting where the employee feels comfortable.

In the End …

An empowered team is a successful team. By fostering trust, providing growth opportunities, recognizing contributions, and offering constructive feedback with care, leaders can create a work environment where employees thrive. When team members feel valued and supported, they’re more engaged, motivated, and ready to contribute to the organization’s success.
