Try these 5 Tips for Bible Reading

Whether you are new to reading the Bible or looking for ways to get more out of your time with God, Try these tips for Bible reading!
1. Start small but read a whole book
Dont just read verses and skip around. Context is important so find a book of the Bible and read the whole book. You don’t have to read the whole book in one day. Start with a chapter or a few and read as much or as little as you want.
2. Pray
Prayer is so important when reading the Bible. Start with prayer and ask God to help you understand what He is telling you through his word. Pray after and thank Him for what He has shown you and ask Him to help apply it to your daily life
3. Read different translations
Sometimes Bible words can be confusing. After all they weren’t originally written in English so they have been translated differently. If you don’t understand a specific verse or chapter, try reading it in a different translation or maybe even a few. This will help you gain a better understanding of the text. There is no right or wrong translation, you can find one that you like. A few of my favorites are ESV, NLT, and CSB!
4. Read in Community
If you have friends that are also reading the Bible, ask them if they want to do it together sometime! It is great to bounce ideas and interpretations of of each other and its a great way to hold each other accountable in reading your Bible every day.
5. Schedule and be consistent
Find a time, a place, and a book of the Bible you are going to read and stick with it. if youre scheduled for work you don’t just put it off or find something better to do right? Find a time that works best on a regular basis and a quiet place that you enjoy being in and be consistent with your Bible reading. The more you are consistent, the easier it is going to be and the more you will learn about what works best for your time with God!
