Watch The Electric State Trailer Here!
The Electric State Pros:
The movie was rather dissapoiting in the expectations that it had. After it was announced that the movie would be directed by the Russo brothers, it seemed like a certified hit. To add onto that, the budget was labeled at around 320 million dollars. With this money added, there were only certain pros that came with the movie.
To start, the movie had exceptional robots. The robots were designed incredibly, and all had great characteristic to make them very distinct. For example, Mr. Peanut is easily identifable and serious, which resembles his character perfectly.
The Electric State also had a good showing from big name actor Chris Pratt. He was funny, and acted as a solid supporting character with the serious Millie Bobby Brown played character. He has a great relationship with Herman, his A.I. partner, and both have a blast every time they are on screen.
Movies Cons:
With every positive, there is almost always a negative. However, this movie has a lot of negatives. To start, the cast is extremly over saturated with unneeded stars. With an exceptional cast of Pratt, Millie, Woody, Anthony, Key Huy Quan, and many more, there are issues of everyone getting screen time. It would be much better to lower the expectations of the incredibly outragous budget, if they were to allow new people to show their skills
To continue, the story is lackluster. As a viewer, it was hard to really get into the idea of a similar idea to the hit blockbuster, “Ready Player One.” The story felt stagnit at times, and it really needed more to add to its narrative to justify the money spent.
Lastly, the movie just felt like it didn’t have a purpose. There wasn’t any motivation in the point it was trying to make. There has been so many A.I. stories, and this one felt like every other one. It was devoid of substance, and came across as a Netflix Original, which is what it was. Despite wanting to be wowed by this moive, it truly just felt generic and boring.
RATING: 4.7/10
