Feed, pet, and hang out with these animals at Rusty Stars Alpacas
Get ready for an unforgettable family adventure in Winterset, Iowa, just 30 minutes south of Central Iowa! As you arrive, you’ll find convenient parking spots near the entrance and a larger area to the right—all parking and admission are completely free to meet the alpacas! 🦙
Don’t forget to bring some cash for the charming gift shop or to make a donation to the farm. The shop offers a delightful array of products at various prices, many crafted from the wool of the alpacas you’ll meet. Once you pet these adorable creatures, you’ll understand why their wool is so special! 🎊
Meeting the Animals
While entering the farm there are some interesting facts about the Alpacas and about Llamas you can read. You will see the gift shop to your right then while you walk some more you will see a table to wash your hands and grab the food.
The left part are the females and the right has the males and a llama. The alpacas are super friendly and they have a collar on if they are not as social. Remember: do not stand right behind them as they could get startled and kick, we never saw any of them get upset while we were there. They are friendly creatures just treat them with respect 🙂
It is fun to feed them with the free food provided. If you hold it out in front of you they will most likely eat it. Watch out for the ones that follow you for more food! 🙂 I would recommend anyone to check out Rusty Stars Alpacas.
