Greece is an amazing country with beautiful views, interesting history and an overall great vibe. I did my trip to Greece with my University’s Study Abroad Program.
What to bring:
Active wear
- One thing that surprised me about Greece were all of the mountains and hiking opportunities. I would definitely suggest bring clothes you are comfortable in.
Tennis Shoes
- To go along with that, you will constantly be walking in Greece so make sure you bring some shoes you can walk through the towns in. There are opportunities to get a taxi or public transportation but walking was easiest for us.
Fanny Pack
- Be careful of pickpocketers because you will see there are a lot in Greece. A fanny pack is a great idea to keep your items close to you at all times.
- I would recommend the Lululemon fanny pack!
Adapter
- Greece doesn’t use the same outlets we do so make sure you grab an adapter that works there. One with more power is beneficial for straightening hair
Euros
- Make sure you convert your currency to Euros! It can be expensive to do it over there and you want to have some on you if their technology isn’t working or if (like a taxi) they don’t take card.
What not to bring
Water bottle
- Don’t go looking for a drinking fountain in Greece because you won’t be finding them
- The best places to get water were restaurants and convenience stores
- The water in Greece is set at a fixed cost so make sure you pay attention to that
- You will begin to not want to carry around your water bottle
American Dollars
- I didn’t find a place where they took American dollars but I can’t speak on all locations
- It is better to convert your cash because with the prices you won’t want to convert it there
Bad Vibes
- Greece is a beautiful country and to experience it fully you have to be open to the way they do things.
- Service can be slow and they may seem pushy to get you to their store but that’s all the fun in experiencing a new country
