More tap this week to Meghan Trainor’s Don’t I Make It Look Easy. I had fun experimenting in this piece, by adding elements such as floorwork and turns, to my tap technique. I enjoyed thinking outside of the box, and practicing tap dance innovation.
In her article “All About Tap Dancing”, Ashley Daychak highlights a move in the tap world toward an embrace of innovation. Tap dance innovation is becoming more common. Tap choreographers are starting to experiment more with the style, by combining it with contemporary music and movement. This, combined with the integration of technological elements and unexpected venues, is helping tap evolve to create a whole new performance experience. (performingdancearts.ca)
