Since 2003, Cricut has been creating numerous different machines. As of now, there are around 9 different models that you can choose from. These models fall into 3 different families which include Cricut Joy, Cricut Explore, and Cricut Maker. These are the main cutters but there also different machines such as the heat press and mug press. For this post, I am going to focus mainly on the Cricut cutting machines and see which one is best for your needs.

The image below shows the newest model in each Cricut family.

Cricut Joy
I will start with the smallest cutter in the Cricut World which is the Cricut Joy. If you are more into Cricut more the card making side, this machine is perfect for you since it is one of the bigger uses overall. What you can cut is very limited with this machine so if it is a smaller use, I would recommend this. Some of the main projects you can make are:
- Vinyl Decals
- Labels
- Cards
- Gift Tags
- Mugs
- Stickers
- Apparel
Cricut Maker
This cutter has more power and the option for more tools. Compared to the Cricut Joy, you can cut the same things but in bigger sizes and quantities. If you plan to be cutting things like banners, fabric, and more, this may be the machine for you. Things that this machine can make and/or personalize:
- vinyl decals
- labels
- cards
- gift tags
- mugs
- stickers
- apparel
- banneres
- gift boxes
- signs
- jewelry
- wood
- quilts
- metal
Cricut Explore
The Cricut Explore is the in-between of the Cricut Joy and the Cricut Maker. This machine is more for people who are casual users but still are making these bigger projects. The Cricut Explore does not carry as much power as the Cricut Maker which makes it perfect for a casual use. Projects that you can make with the Cricut Explore:
- vinyl decals
- labels
- cards
- gift tags
- mugs
- stickers
- apparel
- banners
- gift boxes
- signs
- jewelry
No matter what machine you choose for your projects, you will get good use out of it. Depending on how much you plan to use it and what you use it for ultimately depends on what machine you choose. Overall, I hope this helps to see what machine is a best fit for you!
