There are a lot of pros about having friends that read books, especially the same genre as you. One big pro is you always get to know what others are reading. This week is spring break, so while my friends and I are road tripping, I thought it would be fun to ask them what books they are currently reading or just finished!<\/p>\n\n\n

Buckle Up, Norah is Diving Through…<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Norah has just finished the book “Bride<\/strong>” by Ali Hazelwood. Bride is a paranormal romance that features an arranged marriage between a vampyre bride and an alpha werewolf as a way to uphold a long standing peacekeeping alliance between the two breeds. Lowe Moreland, the alpha werewolf, clearly doesn’t trust the vampyre, Misery Lark, since he can’t help but follow her everywhere. And what is a paranormal romance without a little bit of mischief? Misery entered the agreement for her own personal reasons, the only thing that she cared about. She is willing to do whatever it takes to get her possession back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Bride<\/strong>” by Ali Hazelwood was so good that Norah had to pick up the next book in the series, “Mate<\/strong>” by the same author. Norah has informed me that these books are an interconnected standalone series or a shared universe series. This is honestly my favorite type of series. If you are unfamiliar with these terms, the series follows closely related couples for each book and you don’t have to read them in order. Now if you’re curious about the book let me talk about it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This book features the first of its kind, a human-were hybrid named Serena Paris. The creation of her was supposed to heal the long standing rift between the species, but instead the Weres, Vampyres, and Humans made her a target. Her only option was the Alpha of the Northwest pack, Koen Alexander. The person who has absolute authority. The one that makes everyone scared to cross his pack. It doesn’t matter how Serena feels, nothing is going to stop Koen from protecting her and keeping what is his, safe. Want to know what happens next? Read it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Funny<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

“Funny Story” by Emily Henry follows Daphne, whose perfect love story falls apart when Peter, her fianc\u00e9, leaves her for his childhood best friend that he’s in love with, Petra. She is now left alone in a small lakeside town with no support system when she ends up becoming roommates with Petra’s ex, Miles. As they bond over the heartbreak they are both experiencing, they form an unexpected friendship and even fake a summer relationship to keep up appearances. But as time passes, Daphne questions whether the relationship is still pretend or if it’s the start of something real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phoebe Stone arrives in Newport, Rhode Island wearing a green dress and gold heels without luggage. Alone. Everyone at the grand Cornwall mistakes her for one of the wedding people at an impending wedding, but is actually the only guest who isn’t attending. Phoebe has dreamed of vacationing to the place for years and have such a memorable time with her husband. Except he isn’t here and she’s hit rock bottom. The bride for this big wedding has a plan for every possible disaster that this weekend will throw at her except for Phoebe. What Could Hannah Be Reading Right Now?<\/h4>\n\n\n

Hannah has just recently finished “The Four Winds” <\/strong>by Kristin Hannah. 1934 in Texas, millions are unemployed with a drought that has started to affect the Great Plains. Crops are failing, water is drying so farmers are working hard to keep their livelihoods afloat while the dust threatens to bury them all. The darkest part of the Great Depression. The Dust Bowl Era. Arriving with vengeance. Elsa Martinelli is forced to make an agonizing choice. Fight for her land, the one she loves. Or go west. To California in search of a better life. <\/p>\n\n\n

After finishing, “The Four Winds”<\/strong>, Hannah has picked up “The Invited”<\/strong> by Jennifer McMahon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those seem to still be seeking something elusive and dangerous in the present day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When She Has The Time, Abby is Finishing…<\/h4>\n\n\n

\"Twisted<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

“Twisted Lies”<\/strong> by Ana Huang is the fourth and final book in the Twisted series. So Abby is sadly almost done with this universe. This series follows a group of female best friends and their journey to finding their forever men. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charming, deadly, and smart enough to hide it. Christian Harper is a monster dressed in a perfectly tailor suit and looks like a gentleman. He has little morals and even less use for love. But for some reason he feels a strange pull towards the woman who is living a floor below him. She is the one thing he can’t solve. The object of his darkest desires. Madi Cannot Keep This Book a Secret…<\/h4>\n\n\n

“Two Can Keep a Secret”<\/strong> by Karen M. McManus is surprisingly not apart of a series, it is actually a standalone. I think a lot of people believe that it is another part to “One of Us Is Lying”<\/strong> by the same author. But it is not! It is actually a set of entirely different characters and a new setting which allows it to be read on it’s own. So if this book sounds good, but you don’t want to read “One of Us Is Lying”<\/strong>, then you don’t have to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The small town, Echo Ridge, is pretty well known to Ellery. Not because of celebrities living there or the town being a setting in a movie, but because her aunt went missing there at age 17. Plus, a homecoming queen was killed there only 5 years ago. But she has no choice. She has to move there with her grandmother who she barely knows. Before school even starts, someone promises to make homecoming season as dangerous as it was 5 years ago. To prove their point, another girl goes missing. The longer Ellery spends in Echo Ridge it’s clear that everyone there is hiding something. Secrets are dangerous and most people aren’t good at keeping them. This is why in Echo Ridge, it’s safest to keep your secrets to yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

And Finally Me? What Am I Reading?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Well this is awkward. For someone who is writing a blog about books and reading, I am actually not reading any books right now. If you know me this is actually surprising because I am always juggling at least two books, even during the peak of school when I am the busiest. I am currently in a big reading slump. As much as I want to talk about how rough this reading slump is and why I’m in one, my blog that will be posted later this week is about this idea. Every avid reader goes through these moments. Unfortunately mine is during a pretty poor time when I am expected to talk about all the books I’m reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But this is why having a reading community is important. Learning about the books my friends are reading is sparking my interest and making me excited to open my kindle. Plus, a lot of these books I would never pick up on my own. Hearing about the book and how much they like it is allowing me to keep an open mind about different books. This is especially important during a slump. Plus it allows me to stay consistent. When I am on, I feel more motivated to open a book when my friends are because I don’t want to fall behind on my reading. During the summer when we’re at the pool, I don’t want to be the only one without a book open. Motivation. In case you haven’t been able to tell I have major FOMO (fear of missing out) so peer pressure in reading is amazing for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
