One thing I love about attending the University of Northern Iowa is the amazing landscape and photo opportunities that they have around campus. Whether that is in the lovely UNI Botanical Center or around the UNI campus there is surely a beautiful arrangement of florals and foliage.

As I was walking around the botanical center it was a fun experience. Although I am currently in my third year at UNI, the busy life of being a college student often leads me to overlook the botanical center. The botanical center is such a calm, relaxing, and inviting place to be at. It felt so peaceful and serene while I was in there. While I was in the botanical center there was various UNI students there. They use the botanical center as a study space as well as a relaxing place to decompress between classes. I choose to photograph one of the students as she was studying in the botanical center.

The Deep Rooted History at the University Of Northern Iowa
As I was walking closer to my apartment I had to stop at Begeman Hall. I love how the University of Northern Iowa maintains the history of the past. While the interior rooms get updated as they become outdated, the exterior will remain the same. I was discussing with an alum during Family Weekend. They discussed that although the professors and the classes change on thing is constant. The buildings exterior will always remain the same, or with minimal modifications. They stated that “it was amazing to be able to talk to my grandchildren and tell them and describe where I went to classes while they are attending the University of Northern Iowa.” UNI strives to keep past alums in mind with what the university does.
The University Of Northern Iowa foundation launched a campaign in 2022 named Our Tomorrow. Our Tomorrow is a campaign that was launched to help the future students, both in academics, but also financially. The campaign launched to help the university’s future by letting alums donate to help the campus’s needs and to invest in future student’s experience attending UNI. It was originally set for $250 million dollars, but that was amazingly surpassed! They are raising the bar to $300 million dollars for future donors!

The Northern Iowan Paper
The Northern Iowan is a paper that was first published on October of 1967. UNI students are still printing it today! I hold this close to my heart because I always make sure to pick up a newspaper while on campus. I like being able to read all the events going at UNI, while also being able to see other students participating in events. You will also catch me playing the sudoku on the back once a week!
Although the botanical center and the campus around in general may be overlooked when college gets busy, it is a beautiful place to have at my fingertips!
Your photographer,
Cassie!
