My Journey Into the World of Drones: From Curiosity to First Flight

Hi, this is Noah Bronk with my very own story on how I got into drones.

How a YouTube Channel Sparked My Passion for Drones

Growing up, I was always fascinated by technology. From computers to GPS devices, it all felt so exciting to me. I first learned about drones from a YouTube channel that, unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find since. The channel featured an in-depth video showing how drones are the perfect blend of computing and aerodynamic technology. Exactly the kind of thing that sparked my interest! The YouTuber would review new drones, testing their flight capabilities and build quality. I loved watching those videos, amazed by the innovative cameras and sensors on each model. The more I watched, the more I wanted to fly a drone myself.

My First Drone Adventure: The Parrot Bebop 2 Experience

After over a year of asking my parents, I was thrilled to receive a drone for Christmas—my very first, the Parrot Bebop 2. It was a marvel! With a fisheye lens that captured everything in front and below, a Skycontroller that let it fly up to two miles, and a user-friendly app, it was everything I’d hoped for. I made some unforgettable memories with that drone. Like the time I flew it up to its max height on a foggy day, only for it to land on our roof, so I had to climb up to retrieve it. Or the time I took it out on the boat to film my family tubing, nearly dunking it twice before deciding, “Never doing that again!”

These experiences, along with many others, taught me to respect drones and how to use them properly.

Tune in next time for when I talk about my experience in the commercial drone industry, and what I believe all pilots should do to succeed in this evolving and competitive industry.
