Weekend Getaways to Escape College

With finals fast approaching I think all college students need a break. I have researched and compiled the best quick, weekend getaways to escape college. You could leave Friday after classes or even saturday morning and still have the escape you need.

1. Door county, WI

For the outdoor getaway. Door county has many parks to see such as Peninsula, Cave point, or whitefish dunes. They also have various Wineries, and Artisan shopping. You could also take a ferry to explore Washington island.

2. Chicago, IL

Chicago is a good mix of city and iconic landmarks. Explore the Art institute of chicago or millennium park where the famous bean is located. You can also still have nature by taking a lake stroll by lake michigan. At night you can explore the wide variety of night life.

3. St. Louis, MI

There is so much to do in st. louis for any type of person. See the iconic arch, Grand Hall Light Show, or the city Museum. Reconnect with nature by enjoying the zoo, aquarium, or botanical gardens. For the older college kids enjoy a tour and taste testing at the anheuser-Busch Brewery.

4. Milwaukee, WI

A weekend in Milwaukee offers the perfect blend of culture, charm, and lakeside relaxation. Start by exploring iconic attractions like the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Historic Third Ward. check out the Harley-Davidson Museum or stroll along the scenic Riverwalk. Pay a visit to the unique glass domes at Mitchell Park Conservatory. End the trip with a peaceful sunset at Bradford Beach, taking in views of Lake Michigan before heading home.

5. Grand Marais, Mn

Begin your visit with a stroll to Artist’s Point, where you can walk along the breakwater to the historic Grand Marais Lighthouse, enjoying panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscape. Downtown, explore local shops and galleries. For outdoor enthusiasts, nearby Cascade River State Park provides scenic hiking trails with waterfalls, while Judge C.R. Magney State Park features the mysterious Devil’s Kettle waterfall.
