Free Diving With Sharks

shark diving

My personal bucket list item- free diving with sharks. I got this amazing experience in O’ahu Hawaii up at the North Shore. Keep reading to know the who, what, and how much.

Where to go?

We chose to book with One Ocean Diving. I loved my experience with them while freediving. They made the Experience funny, took any anxiety away, and made it even more memorable. They were Knowledgeable as well since they are marine Biologists. We booked as a group and it was around $190/person including the photography and video package.

Recommendations

It is recommended you wear a dark, plain swimsuit. They explained colors like yellow or orange contrast and look appealing to the sharks. You also may want to remove any Jewelry as they can glisten and look like fish! I also would say if you get sea sick easily this is unfortunately not for you.

FAQs

Do they feed the sharks?

No! they explained the science behind the spot where we were going is good for free diving as the water is naturally warmer Attracting fish, therefore attracting sharks

What kind of sharks were they?

There were many kinds we could have seen but we just saw sandbar sharks and galapagos sharks. There was a chance we could see a Scalloped hammerhead or tiger shark but we did not.

Was it scary?

Honestly no. The safety divers made me feel so comfortable and the safety precautions explained at the Beginning also made me feel better.

Overall it was an amazing experience and i would do it again in a heart beat. I would love to see bigger sharks like great whites but maybe be in a cage for that!
