Flight costs take up a good portion of traveling expenses. Cutting back on this allows you to spend more experiences, accommodations, dining, and activities while abroad!
Be flexible with dates
Flight prices are typically different every day of the week. Flying out in the middle of the week may save you a few hundred dollars. Tuesday and Wednesday are the cheapest days to fly on average!
Book on the outside windows of the peak season
Going along with being flexible with dates, avoiding peak season will save you a lot! Consider going right before or after peak season. The weather will be pretty similar but all prices will be cheaper, even after you land. There will also be less tourists allowing you to have a more authentic experience.
View flights on an incognito browser initially
Flight tracking sites can use cookies and viewing flights on an incognito browser prevents the chances of price hikes saving you money! Get a feel for the average price and cheapest flight before using comparison websites. Make sure to check prices for every day of the week!
Use price comparison sites
After getting a feel for what prices will be for your trip abroad, I highly recommend going to Google Flights and downloading the Hopper app. You can click for emails (Google Flights) or notifications (Hopper) on price changes keeping you in the loop. Hopper is great with predicting if prices will continue to increase or decrease and states that when sending a notification of a price change.
