The in game name (IGN) is the core of an esports player identity. As someone who has spent more time imagining what my IGN would be if I went pro than actually practicing any video game, I feel fully qualified to declare myself an in game name expert. I have meticulously and scientifically crafted a definitive list of the best names in VCT using facts and logic. To qualify for the list you had to play multiple series in VCT in the 2024 season.
10: Munchkin (Gen.G)
Is he named after donut holes, a breed of cat, or the weird little guys from the Wizard of Oz? I hope it’s the third one, but either way the Overwatch veteran has crafted a great memorable in game name that stands the test of time.
9: Yetujay (FUT Esports)
The 18 year old Turkish sentinel player has shown not only great potential with the gun, but also with the pen. What does it mean? I have no clue, but it does bring me a surprising amount of joy to say. Try it! (Yet-ooh-jay)
8: Yay (Bleed)
The American ex-CS pro’s name has been a fan favorite for years. There was once a time in the CS:GO community where his face become a common reaction image to display positive emotions. Very few other names make me want to smile as much as his does.
7: ZmjjKK (Edward Gaming)
ZmjKK doesn’t seem like a great name on the surface, but the Chinese star has a great story behind it. His IGN was initially just KK (pronounced KangKang) but he learned video games from his older brother who went by Zmjj, and he decided add his brother’s IGN to his own as a sign of respect. This is a such a great story that shows the connection that video games can foster.
6: Atakaptan (FUT Esports)
This name just sounds cool to say, FUT is apparently good at that.
5: Miniboo (Team Heretics)
Team Heretics duelist might have the only name that can rival ZmjjKK’s in terms of cuteness. What makes it so good is that he plays on a team with his older brother, who of course goes by Boo. They have been my favorite duo in Valorant based on just their names.
4: hfmi0dzjc9z7 (Tyloo)
I’ve always wondered what would happen if someone tried to use their foot to type their IGN, now we finally know. Trying to sound out this name is a fool’s errand, casters tend to stray away from reading out the jumbled letters. Instead he usually gets referred to as “alphabet brother” or simply “alphabet.”
3: Lmemore (Rex Regum Qeon)
I think I’m a fan of names that almost sound like words, but aren’t words. “Love me more” is a very reasonable request that more people should be asking for. I certainly love him more.
2: AAAAY (Fun Plus Pheonix)
Being the best name to use as an ad-lib in a Migos tracks certainly earns you bonus points.
1: Moose (Cloud9)
10/10 no notes.
