Sixety-six different players participated in the Valorant Champions League 2024 Americas tour, these players had to the opportunity to compete in six different events; these events include Americas Kickoff, Masters Madrid, Americas Stage 1, Masters Shanghai, Americas Stage 2, and Champions 2024 in Seoul. With so many different events and different teams at each, making an overarching ranking of player can be very difficult. I decided to try my hand at this task using a simplified method using calculations to try and find a more objective ranking.

Methodology:

The basis of this list is VLR.gg’s rating 2.0 system, a very complex algorithm that assigns a rating based on their performance. There have been arguments made about this rating system favoring certain roles more than others, but I believe it is the best groundwork to use as there is no alternative that could be said to definitively be superior. This does cause an issue for Masters Shanghai, as the API data from Chinese matches does not get released publicly, meaning the algorithm cannot find the data it needs to provide a rating. I substituted rating for simple K/D, as I found it was the closest alternative to the ranking I believe VLR.gg would’ve produced using only basic stats.

My goal was to take each player’s rating as a percentile for each event, and average that out for each event they competed in. I made the decision to weight each event equally which allows me to avoid the headache of trying to balance the importance of qualifying for events, the different competition level, and the value of a regional event vs an international. This leaves leeway for error, as players who competed in more international events might have their data skewed compared to players who simply played the regular season. I chose this method to ensure that every player who participates in an international event doesn’t receive an advantage or disadvantage over other players, their avg rating can be either positively or negatively affected based on their performance.

On this list I have excluded all players who participated in only one event, and the requirement for being considered in any event was 51 rounds played. Excluded players who would’ve placed on this list include S0m (2), Pancada (10), Wippie (32), Net (35), and Jakee (48). With all the boring stuff out of the way lets move on to the list!
