#5 Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee has been having a pretty successful year and had a little bit of stretch at the number one basketball team in the nation. They have stayed strong the whole year and battled through the tough games of the SEC. With elite veteran leadership from people like Zakai zeigler, they are bound to go far in the tournment. They are playing great defense and out scoring everyone 2081 – 1701. If they can keep this up they will go far in march.
#4 Houston Cougars
This is a team that has sharpened up like crazy in the past few weeks. They have won 19 of their last 20 games some against great ranked opponents like the Iowa state cyclones or Texas Tech. They are a basketball team full of gifted players like Jwan Roberts, LJ Cryer, and Emanuel Sharp. Having players like that that can take over any game is a key to winning. The cougers have a some what rough road ahead, but they will be ready for Big 12 tournament, and March.
#3 Florida Gators
The Florida gator is a basketball team that shocked a lot of people this year. They grew in the rankings slowly and have been maintaining it this season.The SEC is without a doubt the most difficult conference to play in this year but the gators have stood strong and continue to get wins. This up coming week they have 2 huge tests including Texas A&M, and Alabama, some of the top teams in the conference.
#2 Duke Blue Devils
The Duke Blue Devils have and always will be an elite college basketball team. They consistently get the best recruits every year and use them perfectly. They send out NBA prospects year after year, but that does cause them to be young with little experience. They once again are dominating this year although the ACC is not the competition that it has always been. However, the Blue Devils are walking through the conference with easy which should set them up for a good ACC seed, and march seed.
#1 Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers have obviously been the best team in college basketball this year. They have 9 wins against ranked opponents this year lots of them being in the top 10. Also their only to losses coming from the #3 and #2 seed teams in the country. They have a bench full of talent, and use it perfectly. Johni Broome might set himself as player of the year, as he is averaging a double double. With other talent like Pettiford, Baker-Mazara, and Jones, They are set up to have success this year and maybe next season as-well.
