This past weekend the 74th NBA AllStar game and there was some new games introduced during the weekend. To start Mac McClung won the dunk contest with the first ever 3 peat in dunk contest history. Along with that, it appeared that the league tried to get the most mediocre shooters, but then also some snipers. NBA legends were upset with the performance of the shooters in the contest as they struggled showing results of 14-15 made 3’s much worse than previous years.
The New NBA Allstar format
To conclude the weekend, they had the NBA Allstar game with the top players and names in the basketball world. In the past the NBA had the obvious East vs West conference. They also had two of the top voted players pick teams like captains and create squads like a draft. This year Adam Silver tried to follow the rising star game format, Having the players compete in a small bracket with a goal score of 40. Although it sound like a good idea some players in the league average 40 in a week.

4 time NBA champ Draymond Green was asked about his thoughts in the debut of the format he said, “Terrible 0/10 it sucked”. As the seemed to be the popular opinion of fans throughout the world. Will the league continue to go with this format of a competitive style, or will they change it up. The NBA has always liked to experiment with players and fans to see what they like. It will defiantly be exciting to see if they decide to do something special in 2026.
